F.A.Q - [headshot]
Q. In terms of clothing, WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE SHOOT?
A. Honestly, anything and everything you feel confident in. Straight answer: 4-5 outfits with ranging personality and character. Strong solids are always recommended. Jewel tones, black, white, ect. Feel free to bring a range of different options for clothing. #1 rule is that you have to love it! If you don’t feel comfortable in it, you won’t shoot well while wearing it.
Bring a range of different colors and necklines. If you have any doubt about whether something will work or not just bring it along. Don't be seasonal; everything from t-shirts, tank tops to sweaters and light jackets can work. Consider textures and layers as well and try to keep it minimal on the jewelry. Studs or small earrings work and simple necklaces, anything hanging or chunky will usually draw too much attention in a headshot. Have some fun with this, if you feel your wardrobe is missing something then go shopping and we’ll keep the tags on it in case you’d like to return the items after the shoot. There's also a steamer in the studio, so we'll be able to easily sort out any wrinkling for you.
Q. advice on glasses vs contact lenses?
A. Tricky question. I think a headshot should accurately reflect you in an audition. So if you plan on wearing glasses all the time, I think it would be smart to have a majority of shots including them. Glasses can also be a character choice. Fingers crossed that your glasses are anti-glare, if not, I can work with it. But it might take more time to light you properly due to the reflection. If you own them, bring contact lens as well and we can get a few frames with them.
Q.WHEN DO I PAY?
A. Right after the shoot. Cash or check is preferred however Venmo or Credit card is also an option!
Q. WHAT IS THE TURNOVER TIME?
A. The album is available in 5-7 days. After your choices are made, the images retouched in 5-7 days as well.
Q. Can you add border and name to my image?
A. Yes, I can. With an additional fee due to processing time. Let me know if you have specific request in terms of color, name, font, size, and location.
Q. How extensive is your retouching process?
A. Tying in my 10 years of photoshop and retouching experience, the goal is to maintain the true integrity of the subject. I keep it extremely natural. My checklist usually involves removing blemishes, blending in skin tones, and amping up the color and volume of the image. You can check out my process here. .
Q. CAN YOU TRAVEL TO LOCATION?
A. Of course! Depending on length of travel, a higher monetary compensation may be needed.
Q. IS THERE A MAKE-UP ARTIST?
A. By request. I have a number of talented professionals that I can schedule for the time of the shoot. Price range is based upon the MUA's personal rate ($100-$125)
Q. Printing, where do you recommend?
A. I always recommend printing locally. Higher quality and more attention taken towards your images. I personally avoid any franchise, cheap prices provide cheap ink and paper.
Q. WHEN DO WE USE THE STUDIO? WHEN DO WE USE NATURAL LIGHT?
A. All depends on comfort of client and weather permitting.
Q. HOW DO YOU PROVIDE THE IMAGES?
A. After our shoot, all images are made available online and provided via link.
